Hughenden Valley Football Club was delighted to be awarded a £2.7K grant by Sweet Charity, a Prestwood-based group that raises money for groups and projects in the local community.
Our Football Club has now been running for 51 years, and we enable nearly 200 children spanning the ages of 6 to 18 to play football every week. This promotes fitness, encourages social connections, and enables as many young people as possible to play the game, irrespective of their ability, background or situation.
The club is primarily funded by annual donations from the parents of players, but there is a constant struggle to balance the books. The grant from Sweet Charity will cover the costs of the marquee and trophies at this year’s Awards and Fun Day on 20th June, as well as paying for a new line-marking machine for the new season.
Sweet Charity is based in Prestwood in Chequers Parade. It is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. All donations to their shop are sold or recycled to raise money for the local community. In excess of £150,000 has been given in grants to local groups, including: the Guides, the Scouts, local schools, preschools, local churches, WI, football clubs, local groups that arrange trips out and Christmas lunches for the elderly, and many more . Please support this amazing charity by donating to your pre-loved items to their shop, so they can continue with their great work.
